One of the tricks of writing cartoons is combining things that don’t necessarily go together. Dogs that are mailmen, devils wearing halos, the 3 little pigs and Goldilocks… You look for ways to connect.
So one day I was reading something about children’s literature and they mentioned Cinderella’s wicked step-mother. That got me thinking about her fairy godmother, and once you’ve got both a step-mother and a godmother in the same story, a merger cartoon sort of writes itself.
It took a bit of research to find ways to suggest both characters visually in one person, but it was a challenge I couldn’t resist!
